Background

India's growing integration with the global economy has made trade and foreign exchange operations central to RBI-regulated entities (REs). At the same time, cross-border transactions are becoming more complex, driven by evolving business models, multiple jurisdictions, digital channels, geopolitical developments, and heightened financial crime risks. RBI' s recent regulatory initiatives reflect a continued focus on facilitating legitimate trade while strengthening transparency, transaction-level controls, reporting, and supervisory oversight. The comprehensive review of the FEMA framework governing the export and import of goods and services, along with recent measures relating to merchanting trade, cross-border guarantees, borrowing and lending, authorised persons and FEMA reporting, underscores the need to keep pace with the evolving regulatory landscape. Particular attention is required to export and import compliance, trade documentation, third-party payments, foreign exchange exposure, KYC/AML/CFT, sanctions, trade-based financial crime and regulatory reporting. Global trade fragmentation, tariff uncertainties, supplychain realignment, geopolitical tensions and currency market volatility further heighten the risks associated with cross-border transactions. Against this backdrop, REs need to strengthen their capabilities to identify emerging risks, exercise sound judgement and ensure robust governance and compliance. The programme will provide senior professionals with regulatory, supervisory and practical perspectives on navigating the evolving Trade & Forex landscape.

The programme aims to deepen participants’ understanding of the evolving regulatory and supervisory framework governing Trade and Forex, including FEMA requirements and RBI expectations.
